In 1993, Founders Teague Eskelsen and Lisa Ballantyne rebuilt a lodge at the base of the La Sal Mountains in southeast Utah, near Moab, Utah. Operating as a successful bed and breakfast for 15 years, the property's purpose was dramatically altered when a mare and her very small and very ill colt appeared needing help, providing the beginning and inspiration for Mt. Peale Sanctuary and Healing Center.
